The local town hall foster relationships between the ever increasing influx of foreign nationals, mainly English, Scottish and Irish and Welsh, but also French, Belgians and Germans. Algorfa Is made up of the village itself, plus a number of urbanisations spread over quite a distance, from Lo Crispin, which is close to Ciudad Quesada, Montebello, at the bottom of the hill from La Finca, which boasts a splendid Golf Course, and many bars and restaurants, banks etc. In fact, everything a golfer could dream of, and fantastic views.
From here, you follow the road past Montemar and Lomas de Juliana to the village. The road offers spectacular views across the Vega Baja, to the mountains near Orihuela and Callosa, all the way to Crevillente and beyond.

In July the annual fiesta week for Virgen Del Carmen took place, with firework displays, late night discos and entertainment, culminating in a carnival procession on the final Saturday. Like anywhere in Spain, during the summer, you have to accept that late nights are commonplace, so don’t expect to get a good night’s sleep. The locals will take a dim view of anyone who complains at the noise. This is their celebration of summer and nothing will stop it.

Families bring out their tables and chairs and eat in the street, everybody is everybody else’s friend: quite a contrast to life back in the UK.

All the fiestas carry a religious undertone, and the church is a major part of Spanish Life. We have many friends here, English and Spanish, who always have time to talk to you and make you feel part of their life.
