For those people living in the Torrevieja, San Miguel and Algorfa areas, who have not registered as fiscal residents, the documentary requirements have changed again. In particular, if you have been here many years and have not made yourself “legal” , they will ask for Spanish bank account statements from the date you arrived, If you do not have them that far back, they will only count from the date of the earliest statement, which means that you may miss out on some of any refund due from the UK.

They used to stamp the UK copy of FD9 (an HMRC FORM) on the day of submission, but now they will only issue it after 10 working days with the Spanish “certificado”. I do not know whether this will be the same if you come under Elche or Murcia, Cartagena or Alicante.

For further information of the full list of documentary needs, e-mail info@taxspain.co.uk

Two retired ex-policemen have set up a new business “Home Securities” after research told them that there is a gap in the market for such a service. You can get a FREE Crime Prevention Survey and free advice on hoe secure your property is. In these recessionary days when Spain’s unemployment is running at 20%, and a lot of this in respect on non EU migrant workers, the threat of criminal activity is bound to increase.

A lot of people may say “But we had an alarm, when we bought our Spanish property” True in most cases, but have you had it tested lately? When did you last change its battery? That will have got you thinking.

So if you want your free survey or even if you just want someone to hold your keys for you then you should contact:

Alan on +34 626730749
Dave on +34 693354537

Both were in the UK Police in the Manchester and Stoke on Trent areas respectively, and do know what security and crime prevention is all about

I recently flew to Alicante and back with Ryanair, who I find to be the cheapest, from Leeds Bradfpord Airport. Therein lies the rub, so to speak. I find it bizarre that people complain that the service standards are not very good.I find people moan about the procedures for dealing with hand luggage. When will these moaners wake up to the following facts:-

Ryanair fares are lower than Jet2 , although you can book a seat and load a heavier case with Jet2.
Ryanair is the National Express Coach service of the air, so you should not expect Emirates Airways standards.
Rules on hand luggage are designed to make it quicker for those who follow the rules, most problems are self=made by idiots , who think they are entitled to use anything of any size as “hand lugggae” .Stick to the measurements set out by the government , as part of anti security(not Ryanair) and you wil not have any hassle. Weigh your main cases and keep it under the 15kgs allowed. It is quite easy, use a pair of bathroom scales or buy a cheaper hand held scales.

All issues are avoidable. Late running flights are usually air traffic control issues outside Ryanair’s control.

You pay for what you get, so if you want top level service fly with some other airline, and make my flight more comfortable.

I cannot wait for the day they start charging passengers by weight, I had the most comfortable journey back wedged into the window seat by an extremely obeses couple who must have weighed at least 40 stones between them. It is not very nice to have someone’s overweight thighs seeping under your arm rest into your limited seat area, I can tell you.

Accept Ryanair is a “budget” airline with no frills, and they do have good staff. The crew on my flight home gave much better service than some BA flights I have been on.

Urb. Montebello is holding its third Fiesta on Saturday 19th June 2010. The programme is attached via this link

There will be no Paella this year and the evening start is in response to complaints about the lack of shade, in previous years. The fiesta is to raise funds for the charities listed on the link. It is somewhat sad to see that integration with the indigenous population has been dropped in order to fall in the trap of so many ex-pat communities. It seems OK for the ex-pats to go to Algorfa and take all the “freebies” provided by the ayuntamiento, but not to reciprocate with hospitality afforded by the very friendly villagers.
Many will miss the paella, and the attendance, by Spanish friends from Algorfa.

It is a sad state of affairs that the British population in Montebello wants to be so insular.

My sources tell me that a new bar is opening on Montebello, just up from Montys. I understand it will be non-smoking inside and will serve food. I do not have the full details butthis will be good news for those non-smokers, who do not use Montys Bar for that reason. I do question the viability of such a venture. However , it may encourage other businesses in to Montebello. A local grocery shop would be very welcome, if anyone is looking for a business opportunity.

If only they had let mine go last night!! What have French Air Traffic Control got against Ryanair? Or was it cancelled on the pretext of the strike because the plane would not have been any where near full??? Makes me wonder, in these days of recession.
