  • Urb. Montebello is holding its third Fiesta on Saturday 19th June 2010. The programme is attached via this link

There will be no Paella this year and the evening start is in response to complaints about the lack of shade, in previous years. The fiesta is to raise funds for the charities listed on the link. It is somewhat sad to see that integration with the indigenous population has been dropped in order to fall in the trap of so many ex-pat communities. It seems OK for the ex-pats to go to Algorfa and take all the “freebies” provided by the ayuntamiento, but not to reciprocate with hospitality afforded by the very friendly villagers.
Many will miss the paella, and the attendance, by Spanish friends from Algorfa.

It is a sad state of affairs that the British population in Montebello wants to be so insular.

A wonderful evening of fun and festivity took place in Algorfa on a Saturday recently, as part of the Virgen del Carmen celebrations, which lasted the whole week. The Fried Egg to the back of this next picture is Maggie, president of the Algorfa Integration Association
