  • Algorfa Integration Association Closes due to lack of interest

When the Association was discussed in October 2008, it seemed a great idea, and started off with good intentions. However, things have not worked out, partly because a lot of Spanish people did not want to join in, and aprtly because the credit crisis has put a strain on the finances of ex-pats in the area.

On a personal level we have made some good friends, Pepe, who cooked wonderful Spanish sampler dishes at El Corralito. Remedios and Pascual, who were the driving force for trying to get the locals involved. A big vote of thanks must go to Maggie Hart, who orchestrated much of the hard work.

If anyone feels that this type of activity IS worthwhile doing then perhaps they can place a comment on this post and I will arrange to explore the possibilty of setting up something new. Samantha Biddles started the process off and the group did appear on Canal 9, “Tant a Gust” cookery programme. We enjoyed some great times and it is very sad that it had to close
